Cinnamon Honey Face Mask for reducing acne, redness, inflammation and dark spots

Face masks are my favorite. I also love giving myself an at-home facial and sometimes even turn it into a spa day in the comfort of my own bathroom!

Having sensitive skin often means that retail face masks make me break out or otherwise irritate my skin. So, when I’m out of the few masks that don’t irritate me, I like to whip up something from the pantry.

Even with very sensitive skin, this mask didn’t bother me.  You might feel a little burn to begin with, but unless you think your skin is going to burst into flames, try to wait it out.  My face felt amazing afterward.

How the ingredients benefit your skin

The ingredients in this mask help with acne, redness, inflammation, dryness and texture.  It’s pretty much a miracle mask.

Cinnamon to improve texture

Cinnamon is used as a natural exfoliant. When applying the mask, be sure to gently massage it into your skin for the full effect. Same when you remove it!

Nutmeg to reduce redness

Nutmeg can help calm and soothe your skin and naturally reduces redness. It can also lighten dark spots from aging or acne scars.

Lemon juice to lighten dark spots

Like nutmeg, lemon juice is also known to lighten dark spots and even out skin tone and texture.

Olive oil for anti-aging

Olive oil protects and hydrates skin and is great for anti-aging.

Honey for everything else

The star of this show is honey. Honey helps balance the bacteria on your skin and makes your skin glow by lightening dark spots and scars. Honey contains antioxidants, antiseptic, and antibacterial properties, along with moisturizing properties, it helps to deeply penetrate the skin, soften the skin layers and work to remove impurities from pores including dirt that causes blackheads.

This is the ultimate face mask for reducing redness, inflammation and scars

Cinnamon Honey Face Mask for reducing redness, inflammation and acne scars

Ingredients:

  • 2t Cinnamon
  • 2t Nutmeg
  • 2T Lemon Juice (or Juice from whole lemon)
  • 2T Honey
  • 1T Olive Oil

Directions:

  1. Mix ingredients together until you have a nice, thick consistency.
  2. Spread mask all over your face, avoiding the area around your eyes.  I suggest doing this part over a sink as it can be a little messy. Take your time gently massaging it into your skin to get the exfoliating benefits from the cinnamon.
  3. Relax and let the mask sink into your skin for 20 minutes.
  4. Rinse with warm water.  Take your time rinsing and scrub your face gently while you remove the mask.

You should have plenty left over to use this mask one or two more times
